Abstract

The clinical use of vasodilator in shock has shown to be effective in selective types of circulatory shock.
The effect of vasodilator on the lymph, flow in shock is to be determined, however, only the result of observation by Nelson et. al: was reported and the change of lymph protein in hemo-rrhagic shock following administration of vasodilator has not been investigated.
This study was undertaken to define the effects of vasodilator on thoracic duct lymph flow and lymph protein in hemorrhagic hypotension.
In 6 hemorrhagic hypotensioe-dogs (50mmHg. blood pressure) and in 2 more severe hemorrhagic hypotensive dogs (30~40mmHg. blood pressure for 2 hours), phenoxybenzamine (1.0mg/kg of body weight) was administered:
The results were summarized as followings:
1. The thoracic duct lymph flow was increased in hemorrhagic hypotension as well as in nor-motension following the administration of phenoxybenzamine.
2. The concentration of thoracic duct lymph protein showed no significant change.
